Miller Howe Pilates and Massage in the Lake District 2012 - Early bird price until 31st Jan 2012 4 places remain.
Due to your demand, I added an extra date into my 2011 schedule last November. It was my first winter Lake District Pilates retreat. We took time out on a Windermere boat trip this year! The weather stayed fine and the colourful autumn glow of leaves and life in the Lake District was totally outstanding. Nowhere in the world has such beauty. All being well, I may add November 2012 for another Pilates holiday. TBC!
2012 Pilates in the Lake District retreat will be just as enjoyable I'm sure. Full of surprises. The date is May bank holiday monday 7th to thursday 10th May 2012 and I have already started taking early bird bookings for this Pilates retreat. Subsequently, May 2012 is almost sold out at this point.Only 4 places left. Miller Howe will be putting out a blog including the Pilates link, so I expect to fill the Pilates places quite quickly, so if you are interested I would suggest booking your early bird prices straight away. I often attract mothers and daughters and couples to the Pilates retreat at Miller Howe and you can bring your dog too! A family Pilates retreat.
Remember, if you are a group of friends and if you want to have your own set weekend away at Miller Howe or any of my pilates retreats, you need to be a minimum of 6 and I will budget it according to your needs.

Miller Howe Landscape
Miller Howe was built in the middle of the First World War by wealthy industrialist and ship builder Thomas Fredric Harrison. A perfect setting for Sarah's Pilates retreat.
Raised in Windermere, Thomas was seeking a Lakeland Summer retreat and selected Miller Brow - a place described by Victorian journalist and novelist Harrier Martineau as 'a view unsurpassed for beauty in the whole Lake District'. The property remained in the Harrison family until 1948.
In the 1980's Miller Howe was one of the most fashionable destinations in the North of England. Former international newspaper editor Charles Garside took over from Tovey in the mid 90's and continued to uphold the hotel's reputation for unsurpassed luxury and exquisite dining.
Today the Miller Howe story continues in the hands of owners Martin and Helen Ainscough who have restored many of Miller Howe's original features and reintroduced various appropriate arts and crafts pieces of furniture. Along with carefully selected modern works of art, the result is a stunning combination of a classic hotel with a contemporary twist.
And in 2010… the historic home of Miller Howe opened it's doors for the first time as one of the latest luxurious locations to hold my Pilates retreat with massage and great food! My 2011 Pilates retreat sold out and I had a lovely group and have now added in November Pilates in this Lake District paradise. Limited early bird pilates places available NOW. The only difference in the wording below for November is the start date being the sunday evening arrival, starting classes on monday morning. Then next May, the timings are the same.
On the May Pilates retreat at Miller Howe, as with all the others, we start on the evening of arrival with a welcome dinner, served in the Miller Howe Restaurant. The Miller Howe Restaurant has excellent fresh, imaginative food prepared with quality, locally sourced ingredients. Head Chef, Andy Beaton has worked under Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons for a number of years.
The setting for dinner has been designed to ensure you can enjoy your meal whilst looking out over the magnificence of Lake Windermere and the majestic Langdale Pikes beyond.
Bright and early the following morning, we start our first of 4 x 2 hour Pilates class. Each Pilates class ends with 15 or 20 minutes of relaxation. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced in Pilates you will benefit from these workshop style classes and you will learn Pilates in such a way, you will never forget. We start over with the basics of Pilates and each class builds up and if necessary you can modify or advance according to your needs.
At the end of the morning Pilates class, a large brunch will be served in the dining room. If this doesn't keep you going, there will be afternoon tea at 4pm prior to your second Pilates class at around 5pm. A half hour massage is included and can be taken from the minute you arrive. If you have time, there will be an opportunity to book additional massages.
I hope you will take advantage to go for a Lake side walk in Windermere while you are here at your Pilates retreat.
Dinner will be served once more at 8pm in the Miller Howe Restaurant.
On the last day we do it all over again!
On the last evening we will have a very special dinner with the opportunity to explore some different wines with our wine tasting host, Nigel. You should be made aware that Miller Howe has been shortlisted fo AA wine list of the year, for the last 3 years. The list is quite eclectic!
The final morning, you can leave after a leisurely breakfast or feel free to stay on a day or so more to enjoy the Lake District and the surrounding area. There is a very special rate, should you decide to do so.

Testimonials
I just want to say 'thanks' again for such a good break. It all worked really well - obviously the pilates was the main attraction for me and your teaching was excellent and has given me much to think about; however, the whole package, i.e hotel, company, structure etc, made the whole experience extremely enjoyable. I'm missing it today.

Sarah's retreats are great! she used to work in the music business organising tours so everything is really well worked out for and she is hands on when it comes to the details of the trip. Nothing is too difficult for her to organise for the students - The atmosphere during the retreat is light and friendly and the classes are small so you are in effect almost getting a one-on-one lesson.
I went to the Lake District retreat in May 2008 and enjoyed every moment of it. Sarah is bubbly and friendly and extremely professional giving us first class pilates instruction. I've been doing Pilates for 15 years and was very impressed, I'm still walking and standing straighter since I left!

You have a fun plus informative teaching style and the ability to make everyone feel at home as soon as they set foot on this wonderful property. Don't change a thing! Good to know you. I can't wait to try out some of Sarah's other retreats.
